The Economics - Fiction of the Week 9

The Economics

A father and a son were going shopping from Birganj to Raxaul in a carriage pulled by a horse. The son asked a question to his father embedded with some details “Dad, look a very weak horse is pulling such a big carriage. It has seven people riding on it. The horse has the blinds on the side of its eyes to make it see forward and decrease distractions. The poor horse is pulling the carriage very slow because it is over loaded. On the contrary the driver of the carriage is beating the horse repeatedly with a stick to make it walk faster. Humans are cruel, aren’t they?”
The father felt sorry after listing his son who had recently started college. Father replied “yes my son, humans are cruel indeed. The humans have developed themselves by exploiting others who are weaker.”
After shopping at Raxaul both the father and the son saw the same carriage on which they came. The carriage was ready to go back to Birganj. The driver of the carriage was motivating people to ride his carriage. Seeing the same carriage the son requested his father “We should not ride the carriage, Dad.”
The father listened to his son and replied in hurry “I know the driver of the carriage very well. He charges cheaper than the taxi and if I bargain the driver may lower the price.” After he said that, the father held his son’s hand and got on the same carriage.
