Fiction of the week - 7 Rules of a Jungle

Rules of a Jungle

‘Sir, why are you crying? What happened?’
‘There is a jungle that is near our village and a cruel tiger lives there. The tiger kills a person of this village everyday to satisfy his hunger. According to the rules made by the villagers, today is my turn to go to the tiger and be his food. The tiger will kill me today. That is why I am crying.’
‘Then why you are in this place where the tiger lives? Why don’t you go to another village to stay safe? Go to the nearby village, you can stay safe there.’
‘That village is more dangerous than ours. Currently that village is ruled by a cruel, ruthless, and stupid person. The person might kill all the villagers if he gets angry. Nobody can stop him from doing that because he is autocratic and never follows any rules. Living in this village is better because there is system and the tiger follows the rules of the system. After my death, my family’s turn to go to the tiger to be its food would come much later and my family would be safe because the tiger would kill other people in the meantime.’
‘Sir, then rules and systems are followed correctly more in a jungle than human settlements and animals follow the rules and systems more strictly than human beings.’
